The MoET (Ministry of Economy and Tourism) has introduced TM Market Place, a digital platform that allows trademark owners to list, trade, and sell their registered marks. This is the first platform of its kind in the UAE and the wider region.
What Is TM Market Place?
TM Market Place is an online marketplace where owners of trademarks registered in the UAE can connect with investors, entrepreneurs, and buyers. The platform provides a secure environment for listing trademarks and completing transactions through verified digital payments.
Only trademarks registered in the UAE, whether national or international, can be traded on the platform. All transactions must comply with Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2021 on Trademarks.
Why This Matters for Business Owners
Many companies and individuals in the UAE hold registered trademarks that are not fully utilised commercially. TM Market Place aims to change that by turning these intangible assets into tradeable economic resources.
For SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and family businesses, the platform offers a way to convert trademark value into usable financial assets. This could support business expansion, fund new ventures, or simply realise the worth of an underused brand.
For investors and entrepreneurs, the platform lowers barriers to entering the UAE market. Rather than building a brand from scratch, buyers can acquire established or promising trademarks and reduce their time to market.
How the Platform Works
Users must register and log in to access the marketplace. This ensures transaction security and reliable identity verification. Once listed, trademarks can be viewed by potential buyers, and financial transactions are processed through secure digital payment systems.
The Ministry of Economy and Tourism oversees the platform and ensures compliance with national and international IP (Intellectual Property) laws. Unified agreements and consumer protection standards apply to all transactions.
Trademark Registration Growth in the UAE
The UAE has seen growth in trademark activity. From January to early November 2025, a total of 34,234 national and international trademarks were registered in the country.
During the first half of 2025, registrations reached 19,957, an increase of 129 per cent compared to the same period in 2024. Full-year registrations in 2024 totalled 31,537, nearly double the 16,712 recorded in 2023.
This growth reflects broader efforts to strengthen the IP environment, including updates to trademark legislation, revised service fees, the development of a GI (Geographical Indications) registration system for national products, and the UAE’s accession to the Madrid Protocol.
What to Expect
The Ministry expects TM Market Place to increase the attractiveness of the UAE trademark market by up to 20 per cent within its first year of operation. The platform is now live and accepting registrations.
For businesses holding registered trademarks, this is an opportunity to explore new value from existing IP. For those looking to enter the UAE market or expand their brand portfolio, TM Market Place offers a direct route to acquiring protected marks.
