Austria’s relationship with the UAE is growing stronger, creating real opportunities for Austrian businesses across various sectors, including clean energy, sustainability, advanced manufacturing, and technology.
I recently had the opportunity to attend a reception hosted by the Austrian Embassy in Dubai, which took place during the visit of Austria’s Minister for Economy, Energy, and Tourism. You can read more about it on my LinkedIn post here.

Events like this are not only a pleasure to attend but also a valuable opportunity to stay closely connected with developments between the two countries and with the Austrian business community active in the region.
The visit emphasizes Austria’s strategic interest in the UAE, particularly in areas aligned with the UAE’s ambitious national initiatives such as the Net Zero Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy. The announcement that OMV and ADNOC will merge Borealis, Borouge, and Nova Chemicals into a single global entity shows the scale of collaboration underway.
Recently, senior Austrian officials also met with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to explore opportunities for collaboration on renewable energy, climate action, and the broader transition to a green economy. This presents an excellent opportunity for Austrian businesses to take action and consider expanding into the UAE.
How I See Austrian Businesses Benefiting
Through my work with clients from the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), I have observed how well-positioned Austrian companies are to leverage their expertise in the UAE, particularly in clean technology, engineering, consulting, and sustainable infrastructure development. The demand here is strong, and the environment is business-friendly, with competitive corporate income tax rates, no personal income tax, and streamlined processes for foreign investors.
However, entering this market requires more than just opportunity; it needs local understanding, reliable partners, and precise execution.
Why Should Austrians Consider Moving To The UAE
For Austrian entrepreneurs and professionals looking to expand their footprint, the UAE offers a combination of economic stability, international connectivity, and a highly efficient regulatory environment. Streamlined company formation processes and access to a rapidly growing regional market make it an attractive base for conducting business. Beyond the commercial advantages, the UAE also offers a high quality of life, excellent infrastructure, and a dynamic, multicultural environment that appeals to individuals and families alike.
