UAE Extends Appointing E-Invoicing ASP Deadline

Author: Uwe Hohmann

The UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) has extended the deadline for appointing an ASP (Accredited Service Provider) under the national e-invoicing framework. Businesses with annual revenues exceeding 50 million AED now have until 30.10.2026 to appoint their provider, moved from the original 31.07.2026 cut-off. The change comes as part of a broader set of amendments to Ministerial Decision No. 244 of 2025, reflecting the government’s responsiveness to market conditions.

Why the Extension Matters for Businesses in the UAE

The MoF confirmed that the decision followed a comprehensive review of market readiness, drawing on direct feedback from the business sector. In particular, companies had raised concerns about the limited range of technical options available and the need for more competitive pricing among service providers. By extending the window, the government is giving businesses additional time to evaluate providers, negotiate terms, and ensure the solution they choose genuinely fits their operations.

Choosing an ASP is not a minor administrative step. It involves integrating invoicing systems, training staff, and aligning internal processes with federal requirements. Three additional months can make a significant difference, particularly for mid-sized companies still building out their digital infrastructure.

A Growing Ecosystem of Accredited Service Providers

At the time of the announcement, 32 service providers had already received accreditation from the MoF, with several more in the final stages of approval. This expanding pool of providers is central to the government’s goal of creating a competitive and integrated digital ecosystem for tax compliance in the UAE.

One partner, one ecosystem.

The Compliance Deadline Has Not Changed

While the ASP appointment deadline has been extended, the MoF has been clear that the final compliance deadline remains firmly in place. All eligible entities must have the e-invoicing system fully implemented by 01.01.2027. This means the extension is not an invitation to delay action altogether. Businesses still need to appoint a provider, complete integration, test their systems, and be ready to operate within the new framework before the start of 2027.

What This Means for Your Business

If your business generates annual revenue above 50 million AED, this extension provides breathing room, but not indefinite time. The smart move is to use the additional months to make a well-informed decision about your ASP, begin the integration process, and ensure your team is ready well ahead of the 01.01.2027 deadline
